Halloween lands on a Saturday this year for the first time in a long time, which means college students everywhere are gearing up to have a fright-tastic Halloweekend. Between Halloween-themed snacks popping up in the dining hall, frightful films being hosted by the Redfern and ghoulish decor popping up on dorm doors, many things make Halloweekend iconic at KSC.
However, nearing the top of the list is most certainly the ability to dress up as anything the heart desires for Halloween events. The Equinox talked to KSC students to learn what they plan to dress up as when night falls this coming Saturday, Oct. 31.
Senior Haley Hagler smiled widely when asked to share what she is dressing up as this Halloween. “I am going to be Grumpy Bear from the Care Bears,” Hagler said.
Her tablemate, senior Grace Kneff, shared that she will also be dressing up as a bear. “Not a Care Bear,” Kneff said. “Just a regular bear.”
“I’m going to be a metalhead fairy thing,” junior Tagora Mortensen said.
Senior Colin Harris laughed through his answer. “I’m going to be Steve from Minecraft,” Harris said. “It was a last-second one I thought of.”
Sophomore Jake Lynn said he is going to be a cowboy this Halloween.
“I’m gonna be a pumpkin,” sophomore Landon Sargent said.
“I’m going to be a ghost this year,” Kade Marcantonio said.
Sophomore Drew Parker said he will be going as New Hampshire native Adam Sandler. Parker’s tablemate, fellow sophomore Dylan Mitchell, said he will be going as a werewolf.
Junior Aiden Blakney shared that he will be going as Tick-Tock, the crocodile from Disney’s Peter Pan.
“My friend Matt is going to be Smee, and then his girlfriend is going to be Captain Hook,” Blakney said.
Some students have more than one costume prepared for the coming Halloweekend, such as sophomore Liliana Santeramo.
“One of my costumes is a vampire, and then I’m being Wendy from Peter Pan, and then a 1960s flapper girl,” Santeramo said.
Her tablemate, fellow sophomore Keely Thomas, said that she will be going as Tinker Bell to match Santeramo as Wendy.
“I’m also being Emma Frost, and then I’m being Starfire and my boyfriend is being Nightwing,” Thomas shared.
First-years Amani Martinez, Sadie Cooper, Hailey Gaylord and Emily Novak will all be participating in their first Halloweekend as college students and said that they have multiple group costumes planned.
“We’re doing Vegas Showgirls, The Joker, Sexy Santa and Kiss Marry Kill,” Martinez said.
Novak and Cooper shared that they will also be doing a duo costume as Blu and Jewel, the famous Spix’s Macaws from the movie Rio.
