The Norwich University Women’s Ice Hockey team beat Keene State in a 6-1 home loss on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Keene ICE Arena.
Norwich opened the scoring right out of the gate just 48 seconds into play with a goal from forward Breanna Ricker. Keene State quickly answered with 6:12 on the clock when sophomore forward Brianna Finke nailed a power-play goal assisted by sophomore forwards Ava Iantosca and Ellie Patrick, tying the game at one a piece after the first period.
Norwich took control in the second period, scoring three goals straight. Brooks put the Cadets ahead at the 3:52 mark off assists from Boyer and defender Maggie Hunter, followed by a power play marker from forward Geena Cookinham only four minutes later. Ricker threw another haymaker again at the 8:23 mark on another man advantage, extending the lead to 4–1 heading into the final period of play.
The Cadets continued to show their dominance in the third period, as defender Ellin Rees had an unassisted goal at the 10:55 mark. Norwich went 3-for-5 on power plays while holding Keene State Women’s Ice Hockey to just one power-play goal on five chances.
With the win, Norwich showcased its offensive depth and overall talent, out-gunning Keene State and controlling the pace throughout the day. Keene State looks to bounce back next Friday, Nov. 14, at New England College.
