KSC’s Social Activities Council (SAC) is looking forward to the return of its bus trip tradition with an upcoming jaunt to Boston scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15.
SAC will be providing free coach bus transportation to and from Boston for participating KSC students, who will get the chance to explore the city and spend the day however they would like.
Senior and SAC President Kerrin Shea talked about the upcoming trip and the opportunity that it provides for students.
“It’s an opportunity to get students to be able to go into the city that typically wouldn’t have the opportunity to travel on their own. Maybe they’re international students, maybe they don’t have a car here on campus and want to go for a day with their friends,” Shea said. “Basically, we drop you in Boston and you are free to explore.”
SAC has hosted bus trips like this in the past and tries to plan one for each year, Shea said, but this will be the return of the tradition after a year break. Shea said the organization was not able to host a bus trip last year due to budget complications with a transfer to a new budget system; however, they were able to successfully budget for a trip this year.
Shea said she feels students should take advantage of the unique opportunity.
“Who doesn’t love going into a city when all you need is spending money?” Shea said. “Gas in my car would cost $50 to go, and that’s a bit of money for broke college students, so it’s a really great opportunity to go in a coach bus with your friends. There’s plenty of free things to do in Boston.”
As SAC’s Weekend Events Coordinator, junior Libby LaBianca was in charge of planning the bus trip.
Most of the planning process for the trip revolved around trying to find a bus company to provide the transportation, LaBianca said, as everything else “all fell into place.”
LaBianca explained the organization’s choice of Boston as a destination. “It’s just so much, so anyone who is going has something they can do. My freshman year, we went to Boston with SAC and I had a lot of fun, so it just made sense,” LaBianca said.
The trip is currently full with students who have signed up; however, additional interested students can sign up for a wait-list at the link in SAC’s Instagram bio in the event that someone were to drop out of the trip.
