The Social Activities Council (SAC) brought another new activity to campus this year as it hosted laser tag for the first time ever on Saturday, Sept. 27.
A dimly lit Mabel Brown Room was filled with inflatable obstacles during the event for students to hide behind as they faced off against each other in laser tag.
SAC Weekend Events Coordinator and junior Libby LaBianca said the group made the decision to host laser tag over neon mini golf.
“Laser tag sounded really fun and I feel like it’s a fun way to do stuff with your friends because it is on teams,” LaBianca said. “When I grew up, I would play laser tag with my friends in the neighborhood, so I thought it was fun.”
LaBianca said SAC’s planning process for the event was easy and went smoothly once they had found a suitable place on campus to host laser tag.
This was LaBianca’s first event as the weekend events coordinator for SAC, and she said she was excited to see it all come together.
First-year students Jasper Conwill and Tony Hoffman attended the event, which they said they enjoyed.
“I really like these little events on campus because it’s something free for us to do,” Conwill said.
Both Conwill and Hoffman said they hoped to see SAC host more events like laser tag in the future, with Conwill adding, “I hope more people come to them because that would encourage them [SAC] to keep going.”
Another student who attended the event was sophomore Tobin Wyman, who said he went with his friends after seeing SAC post about the event on Instagram.
Wyman described the event as “awesome,” and requested that SAC continue to bring it back in the future.
The next big events on the horizon for SAC will be a Halloween-themed event taking place on October 24, Labianca said, as well as a bus trip to an undecided destination later this semester.
