Keene State Women’s Soccer played Husson University to a 4-2 victory on Saturday, Oct. 19. The out-of-conference match was the Owls’ third win in a row and inched KSC closer to playoff contention..
The match opened with a series of shots by Keene State as the Owls led the match in shots 22-7. At the 18-minute mark, senior goalkeeper Riley Andriski faced her first shot, making a save. Andriski went on to make three saves, with two goals against.
The Owls struck first, with junior midfielder Elizabeth Tschudin putting one in the back of the net to make the score 1-0. Tschudin was assisted by first-year defender Eleanor Leland. The goal was Tschudin’s sixth of the season, and Leland’s first assist.
Keene State continued rolling with a follow-up goal by first-year midfielder Mikayla Ryan, assisted by sophomore defender Keely Giordano. The goal was Ryan’s second of the season, and Giordano’s third assist.
Midway through the second half, Husson struck back, bringing the game to a 2-1 Owl lead. Ten minutes later, in the 83rd minute, Keene State struck back with a second goal by Tschudin, assisted by Ryan for her third assist of the season. Minutes later, Keene State gifted Husson a point when they scored an own goal and brought the lead back to one with a score of 3-2.
With four minutes left in the game, Giordano scored her first goal of the season as an unassisted insurance goal to bring the Owls up 4-2. This score gave the home team a comfortable lead which they held until the final whistle with the scoreboard reading 4-2.
The Owls move on to a record of 6-3-6; 1-0-4 in Little East Conference play. The Owls will next be in action in a home match against Eastern Connecticut State University. This match will be the team’s Senior Day where senior players will be honored for their time and experience at Keene State College.
