Keene State Women’s Soccer played the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMass Dartmouth) to a 1-1 tie on Saturday, Sept. 20, in a packed Dr. Ron Butcher Field. The match is the second in Little East Conference (LEC) play for Keene State and its fourth draw in a row.
The match opened with the first five minutes played near exclusively in UMass Dartmouth’s half. Junior midfielder Elizabeth Tschudin and junior defender Elise Saab made defensive contributions early in the game, keeping the ball in Corsair territory.
Junior forward Allison Kenyon notched the first goal of the game at minute 16, taking a shot from outside the box to score. Kenyon was assisted by first-year midfielder Kylie Rapoza and junior midfielder Emily O’Connell. The goal was Kenyon’s first of the season and both Rapoza and O’Connell’s second assists.
At the 18-minute mark, senior goalkeeper Riley Andriski faced her 500th shot of her career, making the save. Andriski saved four of five shots on goal, facing 17 shots.
Play remained tight for the Owls through the rest of the half, who kept pressure on UMass Dartmouth throughout the match.
UMass Dartmouth punched in the equalizer at the 78-minute mark, scoring against Keene State for the first time since 2021. The goal was followed by two shots turned away by the Owls’ defense, keeping the tie alive, and a close shot from Keene State.
The Owls kept alive a 12-game unbeaten streak vs. UMass Dartmouth, the longest unbeaten streak for any team Keene State still consistently plays, extending back to 2015. This is only the third tie in the two teams’ history. The Owls move on to a record of 2-3-4; 0-0-2 in LEC play.
The Owls will next be in action against the University of Massachusetts Boston, playing away in Boston for another big conference match.
