The Keene State Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams competed at the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday, Sept. 20. The men’s team placed seventh and the women’s team placed eighth overall in the meet.
In the men’s 8k, Keene State placed seventh overall with a team score of 236. Junior Tyler Bolaske led the charge with an impressive ninth-place finish in 24:55, followed by junior Griffin Urnezis (25th, 25:37) and sophomore Nicholas Terranova (43rd, 26:33). Rounding out the scoring were sophomore Ben Tetu (79th, 28:03) and first-year Andrew Klinedinst (80th, 28:06). The last bunch of runners to finish for Keene State included first-year Jacob Plante in 136th, senior Tyler Robinson in 146th, and first-year Ben Calderwood in 154th.
On the women’s side, Keene State placed eighth in the 6k with a total of 296 points. Leading the team was standout graduate student runner Maggie St John, finishing 24th in 22:42. Next to finish for the Owls was sophomore Ava Fortin (70th, 24:30) and first-year Ellie Tighe (71st, 24:35). Junior runner Alyssa Edgren finished in 91st with a time of 25:25, and right behind was sophomore runner Helena Papadopoulis in 94th at 25:35. Senior runner Alana Perry finished next in 102nd, and following Perry was senior Samantha Taylor in 119th, first-year Noelle Hisgen in 126th and senior Sarah O’Connell in 129th.
The Owls return to Keene State on Saturday, Oct. 4 to participate in the Keene State Invitational.
