Commencement at Keene State College is right around the corner and is set to celebrate the class of 2025 on May 10 at 1 p.m. on Fiske Quad.
A lot of preparation is put toward this big day, where different offices and faculty work together and prepare students for graduation.
On April 22 and April 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., there was a commencement fair in the L.P. Young Student Center where graduating seniors who ordered their cap and gown from the bookstore were able to receive their regalia. There were also tables for career services where students could fill out a survey about where they planned to work after graduation.
This fair also provided information to graduating seniors, while offices like the registrar and career services were there to provide details about the ceremony.
Stacy King, executive assistant in the president’s office, said, “Today is the day we check students’ addresses for their diplomas, and we check to see if they are attending graduation. We answer questions if they have questions about the big day. We make sure to have the registrar’s office here in case we have a student who has not been cleared.”
“They get the medallion the day of commencement, and they get their commencement honor and a tassel based on their GPA, where students with a 3.5 GPA or higher would receive a gold tassel,” continued King.
Emily Dick, degree completion specialist, said, “I do all the degree audits for undergraduate students and get their information for when they are expected to meet requirements and help connect the dots.”
“It is an exciting time of the year to watch everyone walk across the stage and take steps to their next journey,” added Dick.
Graduating senior Caesar Barboa picked up her cap and gown through the commencement fair and bookstore.
“I am excited to have the big graduation experience because I went last year for my best friends and my sorority sisters and it felt like a really big moment to be there for them and I’m the type of person who loves big ceremonies and celebrations and commencement is when all of that is on display. It means a lot to me symbolically to have this moment,” said Barboa.
