Keene State’s Campus Safety recently hosted its annual Cover the Cruiser event, where students “graffiti” the campus patrol vehicle with sticky notes of positive affirmations.
According to Campus Safety’s Instagram, “Cover the Cruiser promotes Denim Day, a day where we as a community, say that there is no excuse for interpersonal violence of any form.”
Following recent budget cuts and the Cover the Cruiser event, some students have questioned how the school can afford another vehicle while their clubs receive budget shortages.
“I don’t understand how campus safety got their new cop car last summer, while everything else is getting cut,” said a community member who protested at the event, referring to the recent budget cuts to student organizations.
“Like student activity [fee money pool], we aren’t having a Spring Concert next year, and then there’s the whole student club fiasco, all while student enrollment numbers are up,” he added.
Director of Campus Safety and Compliance Christopher Buckley was emailed multiple times for comment and has not responded as of publication.
