The Keene State College Student Government’s latest meeting began with unanimous approval of the KSC Live Action Role Playing (LARP) Club’s organizational constitution.
Better known as House Bedevere, the club exists as an entry-level point to orient interested students to the world of LARPing.
House of Bedevere had already been operating at KSC as an interest group, and approval of the constitution grants the club official status as a student organization.
Senior and Club Secretary Haley Rogers said the approval will help the club’s expansion.
“With the official club status, we’ll be able to make social media and get our name out there more and have access to a larger budget that will provide opportunities for students to build their own in-game weapons and game materials and garb and fund craft nights,” said Rogers.
“We’ll also be able to fund events, locally and beyond, and also fund transportation to those events,” added Rogers.
The constitution was approved with a revision, changing the club advisor role from faculty or staff advisor to advisor.
According to Rogers, this change makes the advising role more open, rather than being restricted to only having staff or faculty eligible for the position.
Other business discussed at the meeting included a report on a follow-up with Chartwells.
According to sophomore, Member-at-Large and Student Life Committee Chair Emily Hussey, issues that surfaced at KSC dining facilities’ most recent inspection have been resolved.
Hussey reported that other dining topics were discussed, including a new initiative to offer plant-based burgers at grill stations upon student request, new pop-up stations in the Zorn Dining Commons and moving dessert items to a heated station.
Hussey said the dining conversation was encouraging.
“I think it went really positive, and the people we met with were really positive about changing things and correcting the violations that they got,” said Hussey.
