The Owls are champions again as Keene State’s Women’s Swim & Dive took home the Little East Conference (LEC) Championship on Sunday, Feb. 16.
In the diving section of KSC’s Women’s Swim & Dive, first-year Ayla Pullen took home the LEC Rookie Diver of the Year award after placing second in the three-meter dive championship round (397.5). Pullen also pulled off a fourth place finish in the one-meter championship dive (360). Sophomore diver Megan Strzegowski also delivered in both events with a second place finish in the one-meter (370.6) and following Pullen in the three-meter dive (385.3).
Junior Rory Lee dominated the individual swimming events with three first-place finishes in the 500 freestyle (5.23.11), 1000 freestyle (11.13.34) and the 1650 freestyle (18.54.79).
Seniors Mia Destefani and Amanda Davies also delivered on the weekend with Destefani finishing second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2.36.89) and Davies finishing sixth in the same event (2.39.62).
Two Owls placed atop the list in the 200-yard butterfly event, junior Olivia Boulris placing second (2.24.01) and sophomore Rebecca Radonovich in third place (2.25.69). Senior Adessa Noyes also placed fifth in the event (2.28.72).
Leading the men’s swim & dive team was senior swimmer Aaron Turgeon, who broke his own 2024 championship record (53.39) in the 100-meter IM event with a first-place finish (53.01). That new LEC championship record for Turgeon is also a new program record for the event. Fellow senior Zachary Finman followed in the event with a fourth-place finish (57.15).
Turgeon continued to shatter accolades in his first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle event, breaking Turgeon’s previous LEC championship record of 1:45.73 and finishing with a time of 1:43.88. In another event, 200 meter IM, the senior would go on to break the LEC championship record (set by Turgeon in 2024) in the event (1:55.91), making three separate events where Turgeon broke championship records.
The men’s swim & dive team placed fifth at the conference championship with a final total of 429.5. The champions of the weekend and the conference was the women’s team who finished with a total of 779, which was 75 points away from second place.
This event wraps up the 24-25 KSC Swim & Dive season and both teams will resume action next winter.
