Keene State’s Swim and Dive teams drowned out the competition in their senior-day meet against school rival Plymouth State University and conference foe Rhode Island College.
Before the athletic event began, both the men’s and women’s teams celebrated a combined nine seniors for the senior-day event. The senior Owls celebrated in the festivities were Samantha Taylor, Lexi Quinn, Adessa Noyes, Mia Destefani, Amanda Davies, Nick Ferrucci, Zachary Finman, Zach Perry and Aaron Turgeon. All nine seniors will graduate in the spring.
This meet was the last before the Little East Conference Championship is seeded and the Owls took advantage of that opportunity. Sophomore swimmer Tallulah Going placed first in both the 50 yard back and 50 yard full. Going also anchored two first place finishes for the women’s relays.
Junior Rory Lee collected two first place finishes in the 1000 and 100 free events. Another dual event winner was fifth-year Davies, winning the 50 breast and the 100 breast. The next senior to perform well was Noyes who placed first in the 50 fly as well as the 100 fly.
Sophomore diver Megan Strzegowski continued her successful season taking home first in the one and three meter dives. Her three meter dive broke a school record for the most points earned in six dives with a score of 253.30.
The men also did their part competing throughout the day, winning both of their relay events at the meet. Sophomore swimmer Alec Agosto took home first place in the 200 freestyle and also contributed to the relay success. Perry was also a part of the relay, while also winning the 100 fly.
Senior Captain Turgeon dominated the day as he won all four of his events, 100 back, 50 fly, 100 Individual Medley and the relay. Ferrucci was a part of both first place relay teams and also won the 100 freestyle. Finman won his event in the 50 freestyle.
Both the KSC men’s and women’s swim and dive teams end their season after a victory over both Plymouth State and RIC.
