Williams College ended the Keene State Women’s Ice Hockey team’s four-game winning streak in a wipeout score of 9-0.
Starting off the game, the Ephs had a pair of shots that Keene’s goalie Abby Tanner was able to save before the Owls had a penalty 1:02 into the play.
Tanner made three more saves until the 5:29 minute mark when the Ephs’ Isa Healey’s shot hit the back of the net.
The Owls would go on to have four more shots saved, but with 4:53 left in the period and Keene having a penalty, Williams was able to get five shots in their power play. On their sixth shot, the Ephs got their next goal by Lucie Bond. With 3:35 left in the period, Williams was up 2-0. Eph Jaelyn Keiver got another goal with 1:35 left, finishing the score for the period 3-0 for Williams College.
Once the power returned to being even, the Owls’ attempted an attack on the Ephs’ goal. Lackman saved KSC’s two shots from DeSouza and Emily Undehill but Williams held their 3-0 lead.
At the 6:27 mark, the Ephs got their next goal and first goal of the second period. KSC fired back with four shots on goal and had a power play opportunity but the Owls couldn’t get it behind Lackmann.
Tanner saved nine goals in a row but was unable to stop one from Claire Murphy on a power play at the 17:23 mark. 42 seconds later, Williams College scored their sixth goal with a 6-0 lead with 20 final minutes.
Going into the final period, Keene put in Makenna Montgomery as goaltender. After saving the first three shots, the fourth one got behind Montgomery at the 4:20 mark by Chloe Nixon on a rebound. At the 8:44 minute mark, Maddie Zack got Williams’ eighth goal, followed by a pair of saves by Montgomery.
The Owls ended their difficult game with a score of 9-0 and a heavy loss for the women’s ice hockey team. The Keene State women’s hockey team will play at home on Friday, Dec. 7, at 7:45 p.m. against New England College.
