Former President Donald Trump is poised to take back the White House after four years out of power.
Vice President Kamala Harris is projected to win 226 electoral votes, while Trump is expected to win 295, according to results from The Associated Press, as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Trump, the Republican nominee, ran alongside his vice presidential nominee, U.S. Senator JD Vance of Ohio. Trump looked to focus on economic issues during the campaign, proposing tariffs on imported goods and mass deportations in an effort to bolster the domestic workforce and economy. The Republican nominee has also been outspoken about abortion bans and against the LGBTQ+ community.
Harris, the Democratic nominee, ran alongside her vice presidential nominee, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Harris said during the campaign she would support abortion rights for women and transgender rights if elected, as well as draw on progress made by President Joe Biden during his term. Outspoken on liberal issues, the Democratic nominee has also pushed for stricter gun control.
