Republican Kelly Ayotte has won the New Hampshire gubernatorial race. The Associated Press called the race at 10:34 p.m., Nov. 5, 2024.
The battle to replace Republican Gov. Chris Sununu proved to be as close as the polls suggested, seeing a vote split of 53.2% to 44.7%.
Ayotte’s victory over Joyce Craig came to a narrow margin of just 63,000 votes. Ayotte, a Nashua native, previously served as the 27th NH Attorney General from 2004 – 2009, and as a United States senator from 2011 – 2017.
Craig, born and raised in Manchester, found her political start on that of the Manchester school board in 2007, later becoming the first female Mayor of Manchester in 2017.
Ayotte’s win ushers in the state’s fifth straight – two-year term of republican governance.
