Every year Appian Way fills with tables hosting student organizations, campus departments and community to inspire the community within Keene State.
Friday Sept. 6, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., the campus was packed with students ready to get connected with each other.
“I did the Blood Cross Event and donated blood,” said first-year Heather Hastings. “It got me out of my comfort zone, which I wouldn’t have done on my own.”
It was not just students running these tables, Beth Aronson, assistant director of clinical operations at the Wellness Center, was able to be out within the crowd to show up for her cause. She spoke about the turnout and the event’s benefits.
“It’s great because people out here are meeting new student leaders and finding people with similar interests,” said Aronson. “It helps students find others so they aren’t so stressed throughout the school year. This event is doing more of what we needed during COVID.”
Owl Nation had a Spin to Win game, which students could win Keene State Merchandise and treats. This included Owl Nation t-shirts, in which the students at the table were sporting.
Junior Lauren Dombrowski was one of the students behind the table.
“I think everyone comes together during the event. People in Owl Nation are very passionate about school pride,” said Dombrowski. “We have school spirit, we go to sporting events, do bingo nights and other fun activities.”
The Outing Club set up a tightrope for students. Other groups at the event included Greek organizations, Transforming the Political System, Social Activities Council, Feminist Collective, WKNH, Art Collective, Pride Club, Men’s Rugby Club, Cru Keene and many others.
Keene State took to the Instagram page to post about the event. “With over 60 student-led organizations (and counting!), the Involvement Fair is the best way to meet them all!”
With all this excitement, Keene State College Student Involvement and the Office for Student Diversity, Belonging, and Equity raffled off eight sets of two tickets to Keene Pride’s Britney Spears Drag Tribute Show at the Colonial Theatre at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
The Office of Student Involvement’s mission is to “find volunteer and leadership opportunities, occasions for personal and professional growth, socializing, and career exploration to make the most of your time at Keene State College and beyond,” according to its page on the Keene State College website.
