Keene State men’s lacrosse beat Southern Maine 21-6.
Keene State jumped to an early 6-1 lead in the first quarter, with Junior Jeff Wiedenfeld scoring two of Keene State’s goals.
Keene State continued its scoring spree ending the second quarter with a 12-2 lead, running Southern Maine into the ground and having an impressive first half.
Once the third quarter started the trend continued and the Owls took a 5-1 third-quarter advantage continuing to out-tough and out-ran Southern Maine.
In the fourth quarter, the reserves were let out onto the field and still won the Keene State Owls for yet another quarter closing it out 4-2.
This was a wire-to-wire victory for Keene State that showcased its advantages over Southern Maine in athleticism and chemistry.
Wiedenfeld had three goals while his teammate, senior Colby Quiet tallied up another three goals.
Sophomore Tim Souza scored two as well.
Sophomore Jack Ansart put up another two goals.
The other 11 players on the team put up one goal a piece.
For Southern Maine, senior Omar Contreras scored two points.
Senior Schuyler Wetmore scored another two goals. Finally, first-year Patrick O’Driscoll put in two goals. Those were the only players for Southern Maine who scored in the game.
Keene State improved to 4-5 while Southern Maine dropped to 4-7.
