Salem State University this past Sunday. The Owls won with a final score of 19-3.
Keene State started out with a high flying 7-0 start in the first quarter. The Owls were dashing up and down the field out playing Salem State for the entire 15 minutes of the period. Junior Rex Maccarini had two 1st period goals as well as his teammate sophomore Jack Ansart.
In the second quarter the Owls looked to continue what they started in the first quarter and won the second quarter 5-2. Maccarini scored another goal in the second for the hat trick,while sophomore Cameron Collins put Salem State on the board with a goal of his own.
In the third quarter Keene State almost looked like they just put the first quarter on repeat winning the quarter 6-0. The first-year Jake Dubiel had two goals in the period both putting the nail in the coffin of Salem State.
Finally, in the fourth quarter the fireworks were shut off and the period ended 1-1. Goals by senior from Keene State Jason Madden and from Salem State first-year Cameron Smith.
Key players for Keene State were Maccarini and his hat trick. Dubiel’s two third quarter goals. First-year Bobby DeFeo also scored two goals coming in the second and third quarters. First-year Henry Frechette scored another two goals. Junior Connor Woods put another two lacrosse balls in the back of the net. And finally, Ansart’s two first period goals.
There were three players to score for Salem State. Collins scored the first goal in the second period for Salem State. Smith scored in the fourth quarter. Finally, grad student Timothy Eddings scored as well.
Keene State improved to 5-5 while moving up to first place in the Little East Conference (LEC) standings being a perfect 4-0 in the conference. Salem State fell to 4-9 as they are 0-6 in the LEC logging them into last place in the conference.
