On Thursday, March 28 Keene State College Women’s Lacrosse beat New England College, 16-4.
Keene State outscored New England in every quarter but in the third, the Owls dropped the hammer when they shut out the Pilgrims 6-0 in that specific period.
The first quarter was a bloodbath. Keene State dominated it 4-1. Senior Haile Ratajack scored twice in the period. In the second quarter, Keene State outscored New England 3-1 going into halftime up 7-2.
Once the second half started any hopes of New England College to make a comeback were washed down the drain. Keene State put their foot down winning the third 6-0. Ratajack racked up another two goals.
The fourth quarter was essentially garbage time but Ratajack scored two goals again. The Owls won the fourth quarter 3-2 with the final score being 16-4.
On the winning side, Ratajack had an impressive and also game-high six goals.
Junior Lola Smith chipped in with three goals of her own.
While fifth-year Mindy St. Marie scored 2 goals as well as sophomore Tess Brown. Junior Amethyst Phelps, Senior Hannah Dworkin, and Sophomore Annaliese Rudberg all scored a single goal.
Keene State’s defense and goaltending were also just as good as their scoring was against New England.
On the other side, New England College did not have a single player score more than one goal. Sophomore Meadow Gilchrist, graduate student Cassie Kelly, senior Nathalie Antigua, and senior Jacqueline Nee each scored one point.
Keene State’s win brought it to 5-3 while the loss sent New England College to 3-4.
