The Trans Joy Drag Show scheduled for April 4 was canceled due to the snowy weather.
The show was supposed to be held at 6 p.m. in the Mabel Brown Room to conclude the events of Trans Week of Visibility. However, the weather got to a point where the show needed to be canceled.
Coordinator for Student Diversity, Belonging and Equity Darrien Waugh expressed his disappointment over the cancellation.
“I wish it could’ve followed through. I really do, but New England wants to snow in April, I guess,” Waugh said.
He expressed how he felt events like these are especially important with states like Tennessee having legislation against drag performances.
Waugh said, “It’s super important, because the big thing with identity is being visible and being present.”
Waugh expressed his excitement to attend a drag performance because he thinks they are fun and wanted to gain a new experience as it would have been his first time attending a show.
As for the future of the performance, Waugh said there are plans to move it to either the fall or spring semester next year, stating it was difficult to book a room in April.
