Keene State College beat Emmanuel College 14-10 in Women’s Lacrosse this Saturday.
At the beginning, KSC jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Emmanuel ended up stealing some momentum tying the game at 5-5 going into the intermission. Eventually, Keene State won the third period 6-3 which was ultimately the difference.
Keene State was in the driver’s seat for most of the game except in the third quarter when at the 9:35 mark, the game was tied up by a goal from the Halo’s Ella Marschitz. Keene State’s Haile Ratajack filled up the stat sheet with five goals. Three of them came in the third period, but her last goal came in the 4th quarter to ice the game. Keene State’s defense as a whole was everywhere. Mabelle Bessette only had to make three saves because of the connectivity KSC had on defense. Much like Emannuel, Keene State’s scoring outside of Ratajack was quite even.
KSC scored three straight to make it 10-7. Goals were by Annaliese Rudberg, Ratajack and then another by Ratajack. The Owls then kept Emmanuel at arms length down the stretch.
The Owls won the fourth quarter by a score of 3-2 metaphorically closing the door on an Emmanuel comeback surge.
On Emmanuel’s side, Livia Fedele had three goals in the losing effort. Two of them came in the second period. Many of her goals were well-timed and almost brought Emmanuel to the win. Another player who had a solid performance was Emmanuel’s goalie Isabella Thomas who despite giving up the 14 goals had 10 saves. Outside of those two players’ performances, the scoring from Emmanuel was very even split.
KSC women’s lacrosse improves to 4-0 while Emmanuel College falls to 1-3 on this year’s new season.
