Keene State men’s lacrosse team defeated Gordon College to mark Friday, March 1 as their first home win of the season.
The first quarter was off to a slow start with only two goals scored. Gordon took the lead with 6:21 left. However, senior Charlie Giuliotti took the responsibility upon himself to put the Owls on the board, tying 1-1.
Going into the second quarter, Gordon fired three shots towards the goal, making one. KSC fought back stronger and junior Giacomo Tedone assisted sophomore Jack Ansart for a goal, soon adding two more.
Ansart was the leading scorer of the game as he picked up six points total throughout the game, four goals, two assists.
After Gordon netted three more goals, senior Andrew Miller tied the game 5-5 with 1:24 to go in the first half.
The Owls entered the second half with their wings spread to defend the net and beat the tie. KSC scored five goals off the bat, one being by Tedone at 13:07. Sophomore Jahem Lancaster assisted sophomore Sebastian Foresi for the second. Ansart scored the third goal across-field with help from Miller. The fourth was fired by sophomore Dylan Seymour with his man-up transition goal. Seven seconds later, Miller dished the fifth goal.
Gordon struggled to score for the majority of the third quarter but netted three goals to become two away from the Owls’ 10-8 advantage.
The fourth quarter had both teams scoring 4:12 of the fourth. Neither team scored until the Owls final blow at 14 seconds left in the game. The final goal was made by junior Connor Woods, giving the Owls a 12-9 victory.
KSC Men’s Lacrosse will be at home against Bates College on Wednesday, March 6 at 5 p.m.
