The Keene State Film Society has announced its fall lineup for the Putnam Theater, containing a variety of directors and foreign films. Screenings will be 7 p.m. Friday to Monday with an addition of a Sunday matinee at 3 p.m.
As a collective, the Film Society members organize the films that will be shown within the Putnam Theater.
“We try to find the things that have been the best reviewed that are outside of Hollywood, because we’re really trying to bring in things that you wouldn’t find anywhere else,” said Wyatt Codd, president of the film society.
The Putnam Theater is kicking off its season playing Ari Aster’s, “Beau is Afraid” from Sept. 8 to 11.
This year’s season will also be screening Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead’s film
“Something in the Dirt.”
“I’m very interested in that one…” Ryan Severn, film society vice president, said. “It’s interesting sci-fi, kind of like something that really gets you thinking about it.”
The Putnam Theater will also be featuring “Piggy” a Spanish horror film from Director Carlota Pereda.
“We try to show a variety of international art, those kinds of indie films that people wouldn’t otherwise see and try to share films with the world that they wouldn’t see otherwise,” Severn said.
Additionally, “Infinity Pool” starring Mia Goth will be shown Oct. 27 and 30.
In addition to the weekly screenings, the Film Society is trying to plan more events, for both members of the Film Society and students on campus.
“As of last semester, we just got our 35mm projector up and running,” Codd said. “So this year we are trying to get more weeknight screenings of 35mm film.”
On top of that, the Film Society has meetings every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Putnam Theater.
“We ask that you bring yourself, bring a friend, and bring a movie,” Codd said. “Literally anyone can come. Just show up at seven.” All films at the Putnam Theater are two dollars cash for students. For more information about screenings, visit @kscputnamtheater on Instagram.
