Students walked through the Keene State College campus, wearing LGBTQ+ flags and apparel as part of a Pride Parade on April 16.
The event, hosted by KSC Pride, was held on the student center lawn from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The event was more like a fair rather than a parade, said Vice President and Treasurer sophomore Dierdre Noyce, although they did march through campus to show off their pride.
At the pride event, WKNH provided music on stage for the people that came by. At 2 p.m. a local band, Sunset Electric, played as well.
Students were able to enter into a raffle as well to win prizes. They had a Nerf basket, a movie night basket with candy and a gift card to The Works in Keene.
A tarp was also laid down in the grass for students to be able to tie-dye shirts.
As the weather gets warmer, students are getting more involved in the community. “I’ve went to one pride event in my life and that was before Covid,” said first-year Willow Tibbetts.
Using pride events like this one makes it easy for those that are part of the community to find others that are too, said first-year Wren O’Brien.
“It also helps people who are more introverted come out because a lot of times people who are introverted don’t want to go to events that they don’t know they will have fun at,” they said.
“I did it last year and went over really well so I want to keep up that, what I’m assuming, is a tradition,” said Noyce.
