Keene State baseball swept Plymouth State in a doubleheader on April 8, increasing the team’s conference record to 3-1.
The Owls started the day strong, defeating the Panthers 13-4 with a strong performance from first-year pitcher Jake Jachym, who saw his second consecutive game shutout.
The game was off to a slow start, but quickly picked up entering the final four innings, when the Owls saw 11 runs throughout. The Panthers didn’t score until the game’s last three innings, where they only managed to put up four runs.
First-year outfielder Tommy Ahlers earned three RBI throughout the game, assisting firstyear infielder Evan McCue to cross the plate to score the first run of the game. Both McCue and captain senior first baseman and pitcher Josh Beayon scored two runs throughout the game.
In the second game later that day at 3 p.m., the Owls proved themselves victorious once again in a 6-0 game against the Panthers. Ahlers again helped the Owls get on the board, scoring two runs and assisting two others. By the conclusion of the second game, the Owls had racked up 29 hits and KSC ended the weekend with their third victory across three consecutive home games.
Keene State baseball will take on the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Boston in a conference doubleheader on April 15, with both games sponsored by Morgan’s Message.
