KSC’s club ice hockey team hosted Siena College for their second game of 2023 on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Owls beat Siena 4-2 and tallied a total of 45 shots on goal. Junior forward and assistant captain Cal Thompson opened the scoring at 2:26 of the first period, assisted by junior forward Nick Feliciano and first-year defenseman Jason Smith.
Siena answered with a goal of their own in the middle of the second period, but first-year forward John Belisle retaliated with yet another goal at 11:24, unassisted. Shortly after, junior forward and assistant captain Ryan Tobeler took a penalty for tripping, but the Owls were able to successfully kill the penalty.
KSC continued to add to the scoring with a goal by senior forward Jackson Puzzo at 15:12, assisted by first-year forward Kenny Corrano and junior forward Doug Newton. Siena continued to fight off the Owls and scored early in the third period. At 7:18 in the third, Siena was hit with a penalty, but KSC was unable to capitalize on the power play.
First-year forward Jayde Justus scored the final goal of the game and secured the Owls’ win at 11:37 of the third period, with an assist from senior defenseman and captain Anthony Federico.
Junior goaltender Will Slohm made 15 saves on 17 shots.
The Owls will travel to Lynchburg, Va. to face Liberty University on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28 at LaHaye Ice Center.
