Women’s soccer hosted New England College (NEC) Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Dr. Ron Butcher Field. The Owls cruised past the Pilgrims and ended the game with a victorious score of 5-0.
The match’s five goals are the most scored by the Owls in a single game since their match against Rhode Island College on April 8, 2020, where the final score was 6-2. Junior midfielder Elizabeth Kopicko kickstarted the scoring with a goal made at 19:39 after receiving a pass from senior midfielder Kayleigh Marshall. This goal marked the eighth goal of the season for Kopicko.
Junior forward and midfielder Kendall Healey scored her first goal of the season at 27:53, and less than a minute later, first-year midfielder Christina Sanders scored her third goal of the season, extending the Owl’s victory to 3-0. At 39:08, Kopicko added her second goal of the game to give the Owl’s a 4-0 lead going into halftime.
Marshall provided the final goal of the evening at 56:48. The Owls’ defense was ultimately too much for NEC to handle. Keene State now has a record of 2-0 against NEC, and this is the third game this season where Kopicko scored at least two goals for the Owls.
The Owls will be back on the field to host their Senior Night match on Friday, Oct. 28 against Rhode Island College.
