Men’s soccer faced off against the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The Owls left the field with their heads held high, with a victorious outcome by a score of 2-1. This pushed the Owls’ record to 4-7-1.

The contest remained scoreless in a well even match throughout the first half. This changed almost 30 minutes into the second half, when sophomore midfielder Caleb Harmon netted a goal just outside of the box.

Shortly after Harmon’s goal, the Owls wasted little time capitalizing on another chance. Senior forward Mbambi Mbungu took advantage of a Corsairs mistake and boosted the Owl’s lead to 2-0 at 79:37. This brought Mbungu’s season record to 11 goals and four assists.

The Owls fell short of a shut-out when junior forward Joey Paiva of the Corsairs scored at 85:23. Although the shut-out was cut short first-year goalkeeper Leo Kopicko picked up a career high in saves (four). To add onto this, this game marked Kopicko’s first starting game of his collegiate career.

The Owls will try to repeat the same outcome against the UMass Boston Beacons on Saturday, Oct. 15.
