End of season standings for fall sports
Many of the Owls teams are holding places in the LEC tournaments, which will be held in the coming week. Region I is made up of 43 programs and includes teams from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and LEC.
The Owls volleyball team is scoring 14-9 right now, and is one of the nine teams ranked in the initial poll. The first ranking sorts the teams alphabetically; subsequent rankings will have a numerically ranked order. Other LEC ranked volleyball teams include Plymouth State with a 20-1 record and Western Connecticut with a 15-6 record.
The Keene State men’s soccer team has also officially clinched a spot in the LEC tournament with their win over the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, October 23. The Owls currently have eleven points in the league standings, and cannot be caught by seventh place Castleton, which has six points and just one game remaining.
The women’s soccer team still has a chance to clinch the final spot in the upcoming LEC tournament despite their 4-0 loss to the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, October 23. If the Owls win over Rhode Island College on October 30, that would give the Owls nine points in the conference standings. Plymouth State, who has a 2-4-2 record currently occupies the sixth and final conference tournament spot with eight points, but the Panthers hold the bye in the LEC schedule next weekend, and cannot increase their point total.
As for field hockey, KSC and Westfield State are currently tied for first in the LEC with 8-2 marks. The two teams play each other in Massachusetts next Saturday, October 30.
