Keene State’s men’s soccer team kicked off their season with a win on Saturday, September 3. They took on a non-conference win over Fitchburg State on Saturday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex. Keene State immediately got on the scoreboard within the first six minutes of the game.
Aidan Dean was the first Owl of the game to score. The Owls continued to bring the heat 43 minutes in with another goal by sophomore Samuel Binogono, and then another, minutes later, by senior and captain Conor Leahy. The Owls went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Captain Riley Steele said they played very well as a team. “We stayed connected the whole time and accomplished what we set out to. For the first game of the season, it was great to see the effort that everyone put forth and to come out with a win,” Steele said.
Coming into the second half, Steele kicked the ball and found its way to Leahy grabbing another goal. 73 minutes in, first year Cole Acocelli snagged another goal off of a corner kick bringing the score to 4-0.
Binogono scored the last goal of the game, giving the Owls a winning shutout of 5-0.
