Vice President of Student Affairs, Kemal Atkins announced that the interim titles have been lifted for both Ryan Cain and Tom Pickering.

Ryan Cain has been named as the head coach for Keene State’s men’s basketball team. According to the Keene Owls website Cain led the Owls to a 20-11 record and an 8-6 mark in the Little East Conference. Not only did he lead them to victory throughout the season, but they landed the number three seed in the Little East Conference Tournament, as well as landed a spot in the sweet 16 NCAA tournament.

Cain told the Keene Owls website, “I would also like to thank the entire campus community and Keene community for their support during the 2015-2016 season. I thoroughly enjoyed the year as the interim head men’s basketball coach and I am excited for the opportunity to lead the Keene State College men’s basketball program moving forward.  We hope to build on our success on and off the court. We have a tremendous group of student-athletes and I look forward to helping them develop as students, players and stewards in the community.”

Pickering has also been named permanent head coach of the cross country and track & field programs. Pickering has been at Keene State for the past 18 months and has been servings as the Owls interm track and field coach since October 2014, and then was appointed to cross country this fall.

Pickering told the Keene Owls website that he is grateful and excited for this opportunity. Pickering was named Little East Conference Coach of the Year for both men’s and women’s cross country, which he lead both to victory. He also lead the women’s track and field team to the LEC title while the men took fourth.
