The Keene State College women’s basketball team remains undefeated after their three game stretch last week improving to a 5-0 record.
In their game on Wednesday, November 18, the Owls defeated Westfield State on the road in convincing fashion by a score of 93-64. The Owls had six players in double digits with first-year guard Emily McPadden, who lead the pack with 17 points. Junior Stephanie D’Annolfo and first-year Valerie Martin both had 13 points, while junior forward Sarah Kober and sophomore guard Sandi Purcell both had 12 points. Amanda Petrow also provided a big boost earning a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

The following Saturday the Owls came back home to the Spaulding Gym to defeat Smith College 77-55. This time the Owls were led by Amanda Petrow who booked a strong performance, scoring 17 points [career high] and pulled down nine rebounds. Petrow was helped out by a strong effort off the bench from Emily McPadden who scored 11 points in 11 minutes. Sarah Kober scored nine points of her own and hauled in ten rebounds. In addition, Stephanie D’Annolfo was only two points, two assists and three rebounds shy of logging a triple-double with eight points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
Following two run-away wins, the Owls would head back on the road Tuesday, November 24, against Endicott where they would face their toughest test of their three game stretch. In a tightly contested affair the Owls would pull out the win by a score of 60-56, lead heavily by Sophomore Sandi Purcell who scored career high 26 points [team high]. Endicott guard Kelsey Cuddy posed the biggest threat to the owls posting a stellar performance, leading the team with 21 points. Cuddy also had five rebounds, seven assists and a remarkable nine steals.
The Owls were able to persevere with Kelsey Cognetta dropping 13 points as the only other Owl with a double digit scoring tally. The owls were also boosted by Sarah Kober’s 11 rebounds and Stephanie D’Annolfo’s six assists and two blocked shots.
Moving forward, the Owls look to continue their undefeated streak against UMass Dartmouth Saturday, December 5, at home in the Spaulding Gym.
