Res Hall Rumble sparked friendly competition between students as five teams came together on the Joyce Field.
It was Saturday, October 3 at 1:30 in the afternoon and the air was cold and the sky overcast, but that didn’t stop Residential Life from putting on Res Hall Rumble.
Res Hall Rumble consists of residential buildings coming together in a sort of field day activity.
There was an obstacle course, trivia, tug of war, minute-to-minute for the RDs and a cheer presentation at the end.
The five teams HuRaFiMon, Carle, Holloway, OnBu and Ponds participated in the activities.
HuRaFiMon consisted of the dorms Huntress, Randall, Fiske and Monadnock.
The OnBu team consisted of the dorms Owls Nests and Butler Court.

The Ponds team represented all of the Pondside apartments. Carle and Holloway were on their own.
The teams were determined by the Residential Directors who oversee those particular buildings.
Cecelee Young, a Residential Assistant who participated in the event, was very exuberant about the event.
She had noisemakers in both hands and war paint on her face. Young said, “I am pumped up for Res Hall Rumble and I can’t wait for the events to start.”
Students of all classes were ready on the field to take on the other teams. Some teams even came flying down into Joyce Field with banners.
Sage Ober, the Residential Director for Holloway Hall, said she was very pleased with the turnout for her team. Ober said, “This year we have the smallest amount of students in the dorm, so it’s nice to see so many faces turn out for the event.”
When asked about the advertising, Ober said, “Our hall council did a lot of hyping for the event through poster making, and this morning there was a pep rally where we hung out, gave away donuts and listened to music.”
The obstacle course had a few different aspects, first of which was a relay. Each team had certain members do assigned tasks. There was an egg walk where students tried not to drop an egg.
The next step was a dizzy competition where students spun around with their heads on a bat before trying to kick a soccer ball through a goal.
Then there was flip cup and a blind/guided obstacle course. When students completed this, they finished the last leg of the course with a small racing style event.
The trivia section of the event was similar to Trivia Crack.

It had the same rules: answer 12 questions; the team with the most points wins.
Then there was the Tug-of-War event that students seemed particularly excited about.
One student, KSC first-year Kyana Anderson, said she was excited for it. When asked what she was most excited for, she said “Tug-of-war and winning!” Anderson represented the HuRaFiMon team in Tug of War.
Brendan Ackerman, a KSC Junior, was represented the Ponds team. Ackerman said, “I’m excited for the energy and I am ready to win!”
Mackenzie Correll, another KSC Junior, represented Carle hall as an RA.
When asked about what she did as an RA to get students interested in the event, Correll said, “We did a lot of advertising to our residents and we even had a pizza party to get students excited about today.”
By 4:30 p.m. the rest of the events were over and it was time to tally the votes. The winner of Res Hall Rumble 2015 was the Pond’s Team at 265 points.
HuRaFiMon followed close behind in second place with 245 points. After the event was over, students helped themselves to left over hot chocolate and warm apple cider.
