Caitlyn Shea has been swimming since she was eight years old.

She started on a club team called solo aquatics then continued swimming for Salem High School in Salem, New Hampshire before coming to Keene State College.

Shea is now in her fourth year as an Owl and said he experince with the team has been great.

“I have made so many friends through this experience and have made so many memories as well. It is a very positive atmosphere and a lot of fun,” Shea said.

Shea’s favorite swimming events are distance and the butterfly.

“ I like them because they are what i am strongest at swimming in,” Shea said.

Shea recently set a new record for herself at the Little East Conference meet on Saturday Dec. 6 2014 at UMass Dartmouth.

Shea captured a single meet record for 2014 with her time of 10:52.42  in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Shea knocked out the longest-standing individual Little East Championship record. The previous record was 10:55.10, and was set by another former Owl Katy Prior in 2006.

However this was not the only win that Shea captured at UMass Dartmouth shea also claimed a victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.72 and also started off the 400-yard freestyle relay for the Owls who came in first place with a time of 3:44.07.
