The most exciting game of week two of intramural soccer happened to be the first game, as The Clown Babies and Something Stupid squared off in a battle of unbeaten teams. 

John Fanning and Jack Anderson combined for five saves in goal for The Clown Babies, while Michael Lisitano had three saves for Something Stupid. Mark Landolina proved to be the hero of the game as he netted the only goal in Something Stupid’s 1-0 win over The Clown Babies.

The victory moved Something Stupid to 2-0, while The Clown Babies fell to 0-1-1.

The top goal-tending performance of the week was Rachel Blazich, who had seven saves for Dream Team, who fell to Team Res Life 6-0. Team Res Life saw goals from Alexandra Fitzgerald, Joshua Pritchett, Matthew Fletcher and Jennifer Napiorski in the win, while Natasha Young added an assist.

Gabriel Belluscio turned in a solid performance in net for Team Res Life. Team Res Life evened their record at 1-1 with the win, Dream Team fell to 0-2.

Jack Atherton was the leading scorer in week two, scoring four goals in Carle Cocks’ 8-4 loss to Benchwarmers.

Cassie Lacroix scored three goals for Benchwarmers and Tyler Ranfos added another two goals to lead the Benchwarmers to victory.

Ryan Hagerty made two saves in goal for Benchwarmers who were able to thwart many of Carle Cocks’ chances before their shots reached the goal. With the win, Benchwarmers move to 2-0 while Carle Cocks fall to 0-2.

The Bomb Squad was the highest-scoring team of the week, scoring nine goals in a 9-3 victory over Ball Busters. Chris Sinvil led The Bomb Squad with two goals as Monica Waskiewicz, Tyler McKelvie, Teal Harrison-Hertz, Maura Doyle and John Ramsay each added one goal. Harrison-Hertz also added an assist while Matthew Ceccehetelli stopped 8 shots for The Bomb Squad. Ball Busters’ three goals came from Ryan Askham, Jaedyn Bedell and Griffin Gay.

Kenneth Carone also stopped 5 shots in goal for all Busters. The Bomb Squad is now 2-0, Ball Busters are now 0-2.

The flag football season also kicked off this week. Last year’s semi-finalists Parliament opened the season with a 36-14 victory over Hernandez’s Cell Mates.

Michael Curley paced the defense for Parliament with two interceptions as quarterback Leo Mullin paced the up-tempo offense. Wilson Pena Bautista played solid defense for Hernandez’s Cell Mates including an interception. Back That Pass Up opened the women’s flag football season with a 30-2 victory over The Benchwarmers.

Lauren Powers and Sam Franks both had two interceptions for Back That Pass Up and Bruna  DePaula added a long run.
