The Keene, New Hampshire native has been a standout member of the women’s soccer team this season. Summers scored the only goal in the first conference game against Plymouth State University on Saturday, Sept. 20, continuing the Owls’ three-game winning streak.
“She went in as a substitute and immediately set the tempo. She had fresh legs and just ignited the team and got them going and she scored a great goal,” Head Coach Denise Lyons said.
The team had many opportunities during the first half but Plymouth’s goalie put up a fight until Summers noticed a loose ball and an opportunity to score with only 11 minutes left in the game.
The mid-fielder grew up in Keene and would sometimes come and watch the college games. “I always looked up to the college players. Playing a college sport was always something I wanted do,” Summers said.
However, soccer is not the only sport that Summer is a part of at KSC. Summers is also a member of the Owls swimming and diving team.
“It gets a little stressful sometimes because I have no break in-between seasons. Swimming is already practicing now and like last year I finished soccer then had five practices before I had to compete in an LEC [Little East Conference] diving competition,” Summers said.
