The Athlete of the Week this week is sophomore swimmer, Shahar Resman. Resman won three events in the only meet the swim team had last week. He took the 200 free, the 500 free and the 1,000 free in a blowout win over Tufts.  It was all part of a team-wide effort that saw the KSC men take 11 of the 15 events.  The win shouldn’t have surprised anyone, the team is currently ranked sixth nationally.

The first runner-up this week is freshman basketball player, Stephanie D’Annolfo. D’Annolfo has exploded onto the KSC Women’s Basketball scene, steadily earning more minutes each game.  The 5’10” wing has earned an early reputation as a do-it-all player.  While averaging a modest eight points per game, D’Annolfo is also bringing in 6.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists each contest. Last week, after seeing her minutes ramped up, she nearly recorded a triple double in a 60-55 gut-check victory at Trinity College.  D’Annolfo had ten rebounds, eight assists and eight points to help improve the Lady Owls record  to the 3-2 on the year.

The second runner-up this week is sophomore basketball player, Nate Howard. While the Owls have stumbled to an 0-4 start, Howard has been a reliable big man in the team’s starting rotation.  In two games last week, the seven-footer tallied 28 rebounds to go with 26 points.

An impressive part of the Cheshire, Conn. native’s game is his ability to hit free throws. After going eight for eight from the charity stripe last week, Howard is now shooting 90 percent on the season.  It’s still early, but if he keeps up his level of play the team will  have a reliable forward/center combo for years to come. The team’s early struggles aren’t quite as dire as they may appear, three of their four losses were by seven points or less, and they have only recorded one conference loss thus far.
