Athlete of the Week

This week’s Athlete of the Week is field hockey forward Lyndsie Rabenius.  Rabenius had two goals and an assist in the only game for the Lady Owls this week, all in the second half of a 4-0 win over Worcester State. The sophomore has played well all season, as has the entire team, and is a big reason why they are 12-2 this season, including a staggering 7-0 against in-conference opponents. Think they’re the favorites to win the LEC’s this year?

Our first runner-up this week is girl’s soccer midfielder Kristen Huckins.  As part of a busy day, the senior scored two goals to go along with six shots in a 3-1 win over Worcester State.  After Worcester State’s own-goal, Huckins provided all the offense for the Lady Owls, not that they need much of it with Victoria Crenson in net.  Huckins has stepped up her game, helping the team to an unprecedented nine game winning streak.

The second runner-up this week is men’s soccer forward, Scott Douglas.  After a frustrating day that saw his first seven shots get saved, Douglas scored the game-winner in double overtime over Rhode Island College. Winning close games like that is crucial to improve the team’s 4-8 record after a shaky start.
