At 5’9” from Wayne, Maine this week’s Athlete of the Week is Ryan Martin of the Keene State College Men’s Basketball Team. The senior guard broke the career 1,000 point barrier with his 19-point performance in the Owls’ 80-76 victory over conference opponent UMass-Boston.

Martin also had 16 points, two rebounds and two assists in KSC’s narrow 89-86 victory over MCLA. Going into winter break the Owls currently have a 5-3 overall record, 2-0 in the Little East Conference.
In addition, Martin was named the LEC Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the week.
After the first eight games of the season Martin currently leads the conference in scoring with a 16.8 points per game average.

The first runner-up this week is sophomore swimmer Diana Pimer.
Pimer won a trio of individual races and one more as a member of a relay team for KSC during their dual meet versus Roger Williams University.
Pimer won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.98, the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:29.09 mark, and the 100-yard individual medley at 1:03.41. She was also a member of the victorious KSC 400 medley relay.
Pimer was also named the LEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for her top finishes.

The second runner-up this week is Lucia Martin. The freshman cleared nine feet and a quarter inch in the pole vault at the Brandeis University Invitational this past weekend.
Despite not having a formal facility to practice, Martin’s efforts landed her in second place at the meet.
She was named the LEC’s Women’s Rookie Field Athlete of the Week for her vault.
