The first athlete of the week for the 2012 fall athletic season is senior Kalin Billert of the Keene State College field hockey team. Billert already has six goals and an assist in the Owls’ first four games this season.

The forward has accumulated 13 points so far putting her in an early three way tie for the Little East Conference points leader.
With a 2-2 record this season the Owls have won every game that Billert has scored in. Billert had a game-high three goals in KSC’s 9-2 victory over Western New England College in the season opener. She also scored all three of the Owls’ goals in their 3-1 away win over Springfield College.

The first runner-up this week is junior Scott Douglas. KSC’s top forward is coming off a sophomore campaign where he led the LEC with 14 goals, claiming the league’s golden boot.
Douglas started the scoring early this year, tallying two goals in the team’s 3-1 victory over Nichols College in their season opener. Douglas also scored the tying goal in KSC’s game versus Springfield College to force extra time. The Owls would win the game 2-1 with a goal in the second overtime period.

The second runner-up this week is freshman Kayla Deluga of the KSC volleyball team.
The freshman starter has one of the top hitting percentages in the LEC at .220. She is also the second best killer on the Owls with 45 kills so far this season, with a 1.88 per set average. Deluga has been the team’s top severs this year with tallying 15 aces and ranks third in the LEC with a 0.62 service aces per game.
