This week’s athlete of the week is the women’s lacrosse sophomore, Eliza Witherbee.
The midfielder out of Newburyport, Mass. has been lighting it up for Keene State College this past week.

Witherbee scored on every one of her shots in KSC’s 16-10 lose to Brockport State, scoring four goals and one assist.
Witherbee followed up that performance with a second consecutive four goal game.
Scoring four goals on five shots and another assist, Witherbee helped lift the Owls to a 20-11 victory over Mount St. Mary College.

The first runner-up this week is Erik Bergstrom of the KSC baseball team.
The senior right fielder’s consistent play has helped the Owls pick up a couple of wins this past week.
Bergstrom had one hit against Endicott College, but batting in a run in the process, and made it home himself during his only time on base in the game. KSC beat Endicott 8-5.
Additionally, the senior was one of the few rays of light for KSC in its 8-2 lose to Saint Joseph’s (Maine).
Bergstrom had one of the three Owl hits in the game, and drove in one of their two runs.
Bergstrom continued his consistent play with another one hit, one RBI game versus Roger Williams.
He was also able to make it on base two additional times on walks in the 6-1 Owl victory.
Bergstrom was also named the LEC baseball player of the week for his efforts. In addition, Bergstrom is among the team leaders in batting average, RBIs, and on-base percentage in the eight games he’s played this season.

The second runner-up this week is Matt Schairer of the men’s lacrosse team.
The senior attacker was able to find the back of the net numerous times this week as a critical component of the Owls’ offense.
Schairer scored six goals and had three assists in KSC’s one-sided 21-7 victory over Salve Regina.
