If I have one word of advice for new, and returning, students it is to get involved. Whether it is in something you are already passionate about or something you have never tried before, getting involved at Keene State can open plenty of doors and possibilities.

It allows you to not only meet new people, especially those who are not already in your friend group, but also leads to academic and career opportunities that you would not have had otherwise.

Getting involved at Keene State is one of the best things you can do to maximize your college experience.

My first few weeks on this campus as a freshman were nothing short of miserable and I seriously considered the possibility of transferring out my next semester.

It was only once I got involved on campus that I was able to open up and not only meet new people, but open up around people who I already knew, which helped form friendships I still have today.

I invested myself heavily that first semester in getting involved on campus and it definitely  shaped the rest of my college career.

I am now the leader of the group that I was involved in then and am involved this year in new ways, including student government. Not only have I met new people over the years, people who I now call friends, but being involved has lead to internship opportunities.

These opportunities have  helped me exceed academically and feel connected to my majors. I have been able to feel connected to Keene in a way that I would not have thought of before; I now consider this city my home, all thanks to getting involved and giving back to my community.

When I look back on my college years I know it will be the experiences that I have had getting involved that will remain fond because they have truly created my amazing experience here at KSC.

Whether you are interested in community service, politics, activism, film, music, or even Harry Potter, there is a club and organization here for you at Keene State.

You will be able to give back to the community in which you live and will be able to experience things you never would have otherwise.

If you are a new student out there who has yet to find your place in this new environment, becoming involved can be just the thing you are looking for.
